We're delighted that you've decided to start using IBM Cognos for your on-campus reporting needs.
What is Cognos?
IBM Cognos Business Intelligence is a web-based, integrated business intelligence suite by IBM. It provides a toolset for reporting, analysis, scorecarding, and monitoring of events and metrics. The software consists of several components to meet the different information requirements of the University.

Cognos is a tool that let's the University design and publish reports that you can access and run at your computer. These reports access the information available to the UMKC Data Warehouse. These simple tutorials will help you get started with using Cognos to access your reports, schedule reports to be e-mailed to you, and how to have new reports created that you can run. We'll guide you through:
Each guide takes approximately 5 minutes to work through.
So what is a 101 anyway?
In US universities a 101 course is a general course that is often used as an introduction to a particular subject area - it covers the basics, and gives you a taste of what you're in for... just like this tutorial!
